Sozni is done over a Shahmina Shawl because of its delicate texture and finesse. Since the underlying base is delicate as well, Sozni is considered the most harmless embroidery of all.


Embroideries in the Kashmir valley with no parallel anywhere in the world. This exceptionally fine, gossamery, and artistic needlework needs an artisan's full attention and expert skill who spends months and sometimes years together to complete one piece.


What is Sozni Kari: Sozni embroidery or Sozni Kari is fine needlework carried upon the delicate Pashmina shawl to infuse traditional motifs in beautiful colors over a plain base. Locally known as sicznikeam (needlework), Sozni embroidery is considered one of the most sophisticated forms of embroidery in the Kashmir valley, with no parallel anywhere in the world. This excellent, gossamery, and artistic needlework needs an artisan's full attention and expert skill who spends months and sometimes years together to complete one piece.
